Kath Reade - Singer / Songwriter
Kath
has always had a passionate desire to write and perform her songs. She
has a great guitar style that perfectly suits her stunning voice.
Whether it is an energetic, pacey song or a moving slower composition, Kath’s songs are always interesting and hit the spot on a dizzying array of topics, often with choruses or refrains to join in with. – the old days of the steam locomotive; her love of hills, mountains, sea, and lakes; or expressions of love and relationships. Her concern for justice, peace and the planet also shine through.
She can sing in many styles from traditional through to blues and all stops between. That fine acapella group, Wenchall, now regularly perform several of Kath’s songs, and her CDs have been played on Radio Lancashire and on Radio Leeds by The Durbervilles.
That
much respected performer Marie Little
said of Kath’s first CD – ‘Songs
to be Sung’ –
“Wonderful
CD. Great songs, beautifully sung, and I love the arrangements. I really
enjoyed it.”
In 2003 Kath won the Saltburn Folk Festival Songwriting Cup, presented to her by Jez Lowe for ‘A Perfect Autumn Day’ from the CD, and she supported Eric Bogle’s concert.
Those who have seen her perform at folk clubs are often deeply impressed by her songs, the impact of her performance, and her winning way with an audience.
She has now completed three CDs with her recording engineer and fellow performer, Rob Van Sante, from the Battlefield Band, with accompaniments from the well known fiddle player Tom McConville and Gordon Tyrall.
Kath plays three guitars – a Guild, a Takamine, and she has recently acquired a special handmade Gibson J-200 classic with a phenomenal sound.
Kath
lives in Burnley and regularly sings out at venues across Lancashire and
Yorkshire but will travel further. She loves to play live gigs and would
welcome offers to perform her music.
